UK Launch: Failure?

Well that's two Google alerts that have came to that conclusion.

Apparantly there was more press at the launch than actual buyers.

Probably. But on the other hand, The Sun reported:

SALES of the new iPhone are believed to have topped 100,000 in just over TWO DAYS.
Analysts say Apple could sell a whopping 500,000 of the £269 gizmos by Christmas.
At the height of the UK frenzy on Friday night, more than four per SECOND were being sold at 1,300 outlets.

Yeah I suppose, it's just like every launch then, with some reporting success and some reporting failure.

Even if there wasn't many sold, there is still many waiting to be sold as Christmas gifts, just wait until we hit the holidays big time, these things will be flying.
