Trick To Remove The SIM Card

If you need to remove the SIM card like I had to...twice *ugh*, here's how you should do so:

1. Take a thumbtack and stick the point into the hole at the top in-between the headphone/microphone jack and the power button.

2. Press firmly so that the metal from the SIM card holder pops out.

3. Pull the SIM card holder out.

4. Replace the SIM card.

5. Push back in until a click sound is heard.

DO NOT USE A PAPER CLIP: A paper clip does not have a narrow enough strip of metal and there is no extra surface area to apply pressure on so that the SIM card holder can pop out.

Interesting; the manual says DO use a paperclip, and even has a diagram of how to do it. I suspect it depends on what size paperclip you use.

I think that you have to find out other ways to make it happen if you try what they recommend and it does not work. I would caution that you need to be careful when using things that are not recommended.

Perhaps I'm incorrect, but I thought using a paper clip would work. I saw it on YouTube (not a very reliable source), but it looked like it was a video from an official tech company.

As the saying goes, there's more than one way to skin a cat. Paperclips work, needles work, and surely there are other things as well.

I have had several trips to my local Apple Stroe Genius Bar for their help. At least twice, they removed my Sim card; each time they did it, they used a paper clip. It was definitely a smaller paper clip. However, the tapered point of the thumbtack worked well--I will keep that in mind as well.

That is the real benefit of a forum like this: sharing experience about what actually works.
