Maybe I have not discovered how to properly insert the jack into the recessed socket for that purpose. My problem is that when I plug my wired headset into that jack, sometimes the sound comes out of the bottom of the iPhone. Usually, the sound only comes out of the left (that's the one I use which does not have the microphone in it)earpiece. Once in a great while, I actually get sound from both earpieces.

By the way, Apple has replace my headset twice. Also, this is my second iPhone (my first one had a bad board). I have had this same problem with both iPhones.

Any suggestions or alternatives (such as adapters) etc.?
