Application Hang

Sometimes my application will hang (a Web page for example) is there any way I can quit the application without repowering the whole device?

If you hit home and then come back to the app, it's still hung up?

it seems as if the application never really closes. i'm just trying to get out of the pocket pc train of thought, and just think that apple made this phone to have all the applications open and still run. besides i went to the apple store in sagemore, nj and asked them about closing the programs and they said there is something on each program to close it (ie. an X box, not the 360 either.lol) i asked him to show me and he couldn't. he ended up staring at my phone with two of his associates pushing buttons for like 10 minutes till he gave up, gave me my phone, and said "I DON'T KNOW"
