It's not like they have a long history of it, but, they did manage to choose the worst for two countires, it would be nice to hear other carriers reputation.

Not the worst here, that would be Sprint/Nextel...

Oh right, sorry.

Well still, a lot of people are disappointed at the choice of Cingular.

thats nice to hear... it will take me sometime to finish school (maybe a year or so.) and hence when i finish school i might buy the iphone. anyways if everything is sorted before.. then i would be one of the happiest persons to buy the iphone.

Don't worry about their not being a carrier for Asia, that's just at the back of the agenda right now, probably to the hate of the poor Japanese etc.

Let's face it though, they get enough things first enough.

Did the other phone companies get offered to serve the iPhone?

Maybe the companies were worried it would reduce the sales of their phones?

It doesn't really matter to me, because I don't have enough experience with different wireless carriers to be able to compare them. I can't say which ones are best and which ones are worst.

Apple signed a 2 year exclusive contract with Cingular, and Cingular paid a ton of money for the rights (millions..) and for every iphone sold Apple get 50% of the sale.

I don't think this type of thing should be allowed to happen. You should be able to buy a phone and sign up with any company. Isn't it close to being illegal? I can imagine the outrage if Microsoft forced people to have to get internet service from one ISP.
